The Clubhouse has given me a place to connect with others and participate in activities and the Work-Ordered Day. I like music group, mindful movement, and celebrating the birthday bash. I come to the Clubhouse to socialize and have lunch.
The Clubhouse is an awesome place to go with a friendly environment. If it wasn’t for Connections Place I don’t know where I would be. I have hope, a sense of purpose, and a routine.
Connections Place provides a safe place where I can practice social skills with my peers, and engage in meaningful work during the course of the Work-Ordered Day. I am grateful for the Clubhouse and everything it provides.
Connections Place is a safe place to come to. It is where I can find a space to be and I can slowly find the strength to become a more active member of the community. Above this, I am able to find friendships and a sense of belonging.
Coming to the Clubhouse gives me the chance to improve my employment skills and work towards finding a job. My favourite part of the Clubhouse is the people — they’re friendly, helpful, and easy to talk to.
I’m so grateful for the Clubhouse, it really helps my mental health. I love the people — I feel I fit in. I love to help in the kitchen!
Thank you to the Sisters of Saint Anne and the founding members for establishing Connections Place here in Victoria, BC. Such a community of caring, sharing, and helping people supporting each other to bring light and goodness into our lives. Thanks so much for your support during my surgery and recovery.
I like coming to the Clubhouse because it gets me out of the house. I like the lunches, colouring, baking, and I just joined the book club. I have so much fun baking!
I love the clubhouse because their coffee and sandwiches are awesome, and there’s lots of joy and fun.
I really love Connections Place since the people here are so welcoming, the food is delicious, and it is nice to converse with people.
The staff and overall environment is providing me with a safe place that enables me to build my trust skills and express my authentic personality.
When I first came to Connections Place I was unsure as to whether I would like it here, but the staff and members made me feel so happy and at home. After that, I looked forward (very much) to coming three times a week.
With a recent diagnosis of dementia, I have found Connections Place to be a supportive network.
I enjoy being able to help others when I feel able to. I like that the program is flexible, and that I can come and go as I want. This allows me to fit wellness into my schedule and needs. Connections gives me an opportunity to socialize with people when I would otherwise be at home. I get to learn new things, especially in the kitchen, so it is helpful to build confidence and skills that I haven't learned before.
I attend all of the socials on offer. Individual members, with the help of our staff, introduce us to various topics that I find to be interesting and informative. Connecting with the world, or reconnecting with it in my case, is one path to making me "whole" again and part of the everyday affairs of society.
I enjoy being at the socials because it is fun and great showing my creativity and skills!
Socials are an chance to practice communication and social skills in a fun environment. Daytime socials help to break the isolation and further develop their self-confidence in their communication and social skills in a safe setting with the support of Clubhouse members and staff, while having fun!
I like reach-out calls, because when I haven't been in for a while, it's nice to feel like someone cares.
