Business Administration

The Business and Career Unit provides members opportunities to develop skills in a range of areas including reception, membership administration and outreach, and communications. Our receptionists help with everything from transferring phone calls to greeting guests and providing information—all excellent experience to build communication skills and self-confidence! Some of the work in this unit includes:

Reception and Office Work:

  • Answering phones
  • Checking and recording voicemail messages
  • Greeting visitors and helping members to sign in and out
  • Managing office inventory
  • Organizing mail
  • Typing and data entry
  • Photocopying

New Member Intake: & Outreach:

  • Assisting with prospective member tours and new member orientations
  • Making outreach calls and visits and updating the outreach logs
  • Entering attendance statistics in member database

Communications and Outreach:

  • Updating, printing, and folding promotional materials such as brochures, newsletters, and calendars
  • Assisting in the creation of social media and blog posts on Facebook, Instagram, and WordPress
  • Assisting in the creation, printing, and distribution of our quarterly newsletter
  • Preparing birthday card and newsletter mail-outs

Employment Program Management:

  • Developing Transitional, Supported, and Independent employment support and materials
  • Scheduling meetings with potential employers
